Well, I certainly wouldn't say that he said that it suggested that it was
useless, just that the unexpected effect he noticed (i.e. using a buffer
resulted in a -longer- period when the motors were loaded) didn't change
substantially when he used a feedback resistor. Of course, this is only my
reading of his note...

IMNSHO, stating that a particular result is "useless" or not is perhaps
premature. To begin with, one has to specify what your value system is --
that is, what you think is valuable (in this case, useful) and why. On the
other hand, you can hypothesize whether or not you expect particular
results, design & perform an experiment (as both you and Wilf are doing so
admirably) to test the hypothesis and report the results without regard to
what they "mean" other than as a measure of your understanding of
"reality". Isn't this one of the pillars of scientific method?

Um, not from me for the moment. Like many of you, life is full of many
things to do including programming on my Palm IIIx and yearning after
playing with the MindStorms set I bought several months ago.
