The chances of finding a photodiode or photo transistor in a walkman is
almost nothing. They don't even HAVE write protect switches cause they
DON'T record!!!

Photodiodes/PT can be found in ALL disk drives and MOST printers.

Standard tape recorders only use a simple mechanical switch for the tape protect.

VCRs have PDs in the tape mechanism.

Anything with a remote, the RECIEVING end will have a PD or PT. It's
housed inside a metal can less than an inch square. It has 3 wires or
pins and usualy 2, 3, or 4 extra large pins to hold the metal case down.

Most compurter mice have a PD or PT inside. N64 joysticks do to, and
others might as well.
