Hysteresis is where there is a difference between
cause and effect in going between two states. Try messing with
humble wall light switch. The light changes state from on to off and =
off
to on at two different positions. This difference is the switches
hysteresis. Incidentally the word has its derivation in connection with
a certain 9 month (10 if you ignore conventional wisdom) period.
