Subject: [alt-beam] Re: Bicore, not wasting energy

Hello,

Thank you all for coming with different solutions than a bicore, but that's
not what I had in mind actually: I do want to keep the bicore; I like the
behaviour of the circuit and I think it is really suitable for
head-like-applications. The only thing I don't like is its
power-consumption and something should be made up to somehow interface the
motor to the bicore.
So, my goal is actually to keep the (suspended) bicore circuit and add some
circuitry to drive the motor in a more efficient way. Like I mentioned in
the first email the information is contained in the dutycycle of the
oscillation. I tried to design a circuit which determines the difference
from 50% of this dutycycle, but this is difficult when the dutycycle nears
50% and that is actually when the sytem is pointing in the right direction,
so if everything is oke this is also where it spends most of its time. As
far as I see it the circuits I posted (but again, I didn't actually build
them yet) do detect the difference (pos. or neg.) from 50%, but also get in
trouble when it is almost 50%.

Perhaps I put myself on the wrong track. Will think about it more tonight.

Regards,

Wouter Brok
