The hard disk... the read/write head's position is often controlled using
a D'Arsonval movement -- a coil that moves between two fixed magnets. Such
a moving coil device can be seen in mechanical electrical meters -- the
degree of deflection is proportional to the current flow.

SAFETY WARNING: These magnets are easily strong enough to pinch/injure
flesh between them.
