Subject: [alt-beam] Slot Car Races (new idea?)

The only problem with that is that if the two tracks were connected
together electrically, you're likely to see the SE with the
llowest switch-on voltage win by a huge margin - the other car wouldn't
move at all.

I guess you would have to isolate the two tracks from each other, so that
one SE couldn't 'steal' the energy from its opponent.

Great idea!

A possible variation (which I would try if I had a slot racer
track and cars) is to line photodiodes(less visually obtrusive) or
solarcells on the track, and use the existing metal traces to send the
poweer to the cars when the SE fires. The SE and cap(s) on the track
itself would mean only the motor is in the car - making it lighter and
able to run longer.
