Another few things I've found useful:
- if you're mixing more than a bit, use one of those graduated
plastic dose cups. (They commonly are found on top of Nyquil
bottles) You can mix parts pretty exactly. The ones I have
are graduated down to 2.5ml . It is difficult to 'eyeball' the
proper proportions of larger doses.
- I have found that cheaper 5 minute epoxy (usually found in the
stationary section) will harden more gradually than the more expensive
stuff. The better stuff (found at hobby stores in plastic bottles)
will remain liquid right up until the set time, where it hardens almost
all at once. These are usually better for 'dipping'
- If you mess up the surface of the epoxy, lick your fingertip (or dip in
water/your soldering sponge) and 'wipe' the messup to smooth it. The
moisture will prevent the epoxy from sticking to your finger and making
it worse.
Finally, epoxy "sets" or "hardens". It does not "dry".
