[Wilf Rigter] Warning : re-arranged and snipped

Machine evolution is not only happening, it may be in the middle of
its `Cambrian Explosion' stage, where many new species briefly
appear and nobody can know in which direction things will settle.
I'm afraid that this hardy machine species will find a way to
adapt...
The same is true for all machines, but the term `evolution' very
much applies. Machines are evolving a kind of nervous system,
but a brain as we or anything alive understands it won't fit their
bodies.

Best,

Steve

So Steve, what do YOU understand Mark Tilden is saying with " get a better
grip on this BEAM thing" (and I don't think he meant a new photovore kit).

>So long as the machines exclusively
>serve their Gods, I've predicted they won't go anywhere outside the
>laboratory or moviescreen. In my opinion, fifty years sounds pretty
>optimistic, unless we can get a better grip on this BEAM thing.
