From memory, they are octal latches with tristate outputs. The inputs
and outputs are lined up on each side of the chip similar to the 245 pin
out. The strobe and tristate enable pins are on pin 1 and pin 10. They
can be used instead of the 74ALS245 for (unidirectional) Beam
applications where a ALS245 is specified.

Although I personally don't recommend them for Beam applications, I have
used them in more complex digital designs like my ZX97 family (grin).
