Subject: [alt-beam] robot grouping

right now I working on a six leg solar powered walker and in the future I'm
planning on building an few more. I was thinking about how I could make them
communicate and I had a idea. Since solar powered bots need light to live it
makes sense to make them be able to communicate such that they tell each
other were the light is. So, this is the idea: Give each bot a light sensor,
a transducer, and two microphones. The light sensor (a CDS cell) is hooked
up to a voltage divider that feeds a voltage to a voltage->>frequency
converter (a 555 timer) that drives the transducer. so basicly you have a
buzzer that changes pitch depending on the light level on the CDS cell. If
each robot was set up so that is compared the frequency of the beeps it
heard from other bots, with the frequency of the beeps it was making, it
could tell if it, or the other bot was under more light. And since each bot
has two microphones, it could tell which direction it has to travel. So if
you spread out a bunch of bots in a environmentwhat you would end up with
all of them grouped together under the bightest light. What do you think??
