Subject: [alt-beam] The ultimate solar roller.
Check out this site and turn green with envy.
http://kepler.physics.ubc.ca/~solarcar/
The site isn't all that informative, but the Photo Gallery is
interesting. Click on the leftmost "solar array" thumbnail, then wipe
the drool off your screen. 8 square metres of solar panel (80 square
feet).
Here's some facts you won't find on the site.
Construction time -- 2 years.
Cost: $134,00 Cdn (so far).
Top speed in bright sunlight: 100 km/h (60 MPH).
Let's see, that would buy 5360 Solarbotics' SolarSpeeders.
(This car was built for the 1999 GM Sunrayce from Washington D.C. to
Orlando Florida. http://www.sunrayce.com/sunrayce/index.html
if you're
interested).
Regards,
Bruce
