I, for one, find this completely fascinating. The current book on my
table is "The Ants", by Holldobler and E.O. Wilson. This reference work
condenses a lifetime of research papers into one volume. If it aint here,
you dont need to know it.

Alas, I'm most interested in ants vision and senses, but the book focuses
more on how to determine which of the 8,800 species you have, and
(also-interesting) colony behaviours. Some species have multiple nests,
and if they're attacked, will move from one to the other. Some species
(army ants) relocate every few days, and others stay in the same
well-protected and -ventilated hive for decades.

Neat stuff!
