Subject: OTU problems

I recently found a GOLDMINE for OTU's a comercial yard sale which has
hundreds of houshold appliances, most of which are junk, and the owner
lets me scavenge them for free... today i found the "Good" type of otu's
...

the only problem is when im modifying them, the spur gears are not
plastic, they are ALL metal, and when i remove the shaft, the gear falls
apart into like 10 small flat "gearlets" which are stacked together on
the shaft to make the gear.. im not sure if ill ever be able to line
them all up again on the pager motor shaft..

any hints?
