Umm... I don't know if this will make you feel any better, but I'm a newbie and
had the charging to ~3.5 and not firing problem about a month ago. I worked
away at it for three days, got nowhere, and have been avoiding beam entirely
ever since. If you do figure out what's going on, *please* post a solution to
the list, as I think there're other newbies out there feeling the same way I
am...
