Subject: [alt-beam] fled photovore

I have recently been working on a fled photovore that uses a single
panasonic bp-3733 solar cell, 16v, 4700mf capacitor, 3906, 3904 transistors
and a pair of yellow fleds. I tried using LDR's for eyes but can't seem to
get them to work. In average lighting the ldr's measure about 5.6k
resistance, quickly rising to an infinite resistance when covered. The
ldr's are wired into the solar engine where the 2.2k resistor usually goes.
My problem is the circuit dosn't work, is the resistance of these ldr's
too high?, should I run a 2.2k resistor in parallel with the ldr? what
about using photodiodes?

Also, what is the difference between a photodiode and a phototransistor?

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks
