Very little on the Web, I'm afraid. Flying by proxy was a part of
the two international contests I judged for (Interscale '95 and '97),
but not a large part; just one or two models. Every national
organization has a list of more experienced members willing to help
others. If someone who wishes to fly by proxy hasn't made his/her
own arrangements, he/she is usually referred to a person on that
list, and that's about all there is to it.
Afaik no contest has ever been flown entirely by proxy, and I don't
see that happen in indoor aeromodelling. But BEAM is predominantly
an Internet community, and the robotic Playground would be small,
just 100x50cm or so. Even when all participate in person, a camera
and monitors setup may well be needed to give everyone a good view
of what the robots are doing. And the `game' may actually not be all
that interesting to watch, most of the time.
A camera directly connected to the Web would give those who
participate by proxy a pretty good view of the contest, and may
also attract a wider audience. The setting would be a page with
pictures and details of the participating `bots, stills of
interesting scenes on the testing Playgrounds and so on.
Best,
Steve
