Okay, first things first. Remove the photodiodes and switches. You should
now have two FLED solarengines connected to on cap/solarcell. If it stil
doesn't work then try disconnecting one of the solar engines (We'll just
debug one for now). How about now?
if so connect the other solar engine and play arround woth the cap/resistor
values until the photodiodes work.

You may still need the trimpot. No components are 100% matched and your
robot may need tweaking.

Ahh, sounds like you have your FLED in the wrong way around. Try turning it
180degs

Hope this helps and don't worry we've all sat around for 15mins in hope that
sooner or later out photopopper is going to pop. :-)
