Subject: [alt-beam] Re: Omron Motors for $7.50 (All Electronics DCM-110)
There is a tiny switch in the Mac eject motor that closes for one
revolution,a nd opens at a particular point. If you pulse it, and the
motor is wired to it, then the switch keeps the motor running for one
revolution exactly and then opens, stoping the motor. All Mac Eject
motors I've ever seen have this, and they are Omron. I suspect the
manufacturer of Apple's former floppy drives may have dumped the motors
to surplus companies, since Apple no longer puts floppy drives in any of
their computers. It's a sound theory. Don't know if it's true, but the
motors bear an uncanny resemblance! (:
