Actually, there's a site out there called "Furby Autopsy"
all the gears in it are a very cheap plastic, and the circuitry is
hardwired into a single chip encased in that black-goo stuff. When you
actually open one up, they're actually kind of shoddy, though the cams and
gears are put together in an interesting way.
