Subject: [alt-beam] 555, 3909 SE

Hello,
I was just sitting and doing nothing. And then an idea came. And
beceause I don't want to re-invent the wheel, I'd like to ask: Has
someone used 555s in type II SE before? They're supposed to be
timers and are very cheap.
My second thought was: How about the LM3909 photovore? how
shall i make it? freeform? No. - HEUREKA - How about putting the
two ICs, caps and diodes into a say 2x16 pin DIL socket? I think it
would look cool to have the smaller capacitors peeled and glued to
the side. they will look like silver eyes.

place photodiodes here on each side
caps' leads bent 90 degrees to side

pretty messy eh?
nevermind. look at the scheme(search the web)it's simple and
whatsmore, symetrical. I'd draw a picture but MS paint says i don't
have enough memory (alhough i run just PMail on 64 MB )
Is this a re-invented wheel too?
Please let me know.
JP
