Subject: [alt-beam] CPU's and Programming. The Newbie's POV

To whom it my concern.

I am a lurker. I post very rearly. Because I a newbie to beam and am
here to learn. I have built many a "big bot" and feel that all be it
they are fun to play with, I feel that the true, on the edge feeling
of Alife that beam gives me, isn't there in "big bot's".

when I build a "big bot" it does what I want because I built it, and
programming it that way.

But with beam ( I don't know it might just be me) But the exact
function and behavior of a beam bot is off and unpredictable. thats
why it's fun.

Now I am here for beam not basic stamp and 12 volt motors and bike
chains for gear trains.

I'm here to snap the plastic off a walkman pull out the motor, and
build an SE. I'm here building beam plants and self guided Aquabots
(they don'y eat water, sorry).

If you want to add stamps to beam fine. You want to play
Frankenstein, fine. I as a newbie have one request. NOT HERE.
this is the one source for "live" newbie info, other than the all to
cold web site.

Set up another list. hold weekly chats something.Only e-mail directly
( not to the list). But this is for newbies. With a lot of good,
great
kind "long-term" people that have fun by partaking in the group
threads (I.E. genome) And they're here by choice. if you don't like
it don't make me have to put up with your wasted bandwidth. Please.

Sincerely,
Jim Cook
