Subject: [alt-beam] remote control...

a few questions... Where could I get a good simple circuit for a IR
remote control reciever that would decode signals from a standard TV
remote and output to different pins of a chip or something, rather than
just giving me some stream of data from the reciever? example:
IR detector
|
V
O-----+----+- 1
+ +- 2
+ +- 3
+----+- 4
for example maybe you would press POWER on the remote and pin 1 would
go high, press 6 on the remote and pin 2 would go high, etc. just to
control a robot without programming or microcontrollers?

and does anyone have any idea how an ultrasonic transducer works? Can
you just apply voltage to the transmitter and it will emit a tone, then
put a lightbulb in series in a circuit with the reciever and when it
recieves the signal it lets current pass thru?
sorry it doesn't have anything to do with BEAM, but i was just wondering.
