Subject: [alt-beam] photovore mating rituals.........
okay, quite a while back i mentioned my ideas for the next
evolutionary step in beam robotics...mating.
I have posted my first ideas at www.surf.net.au/~jmdbb/beam/ under
ideas. For the next stage i have to design a system in which the male
photovore tracks down the female (only the female will look for
light). My first thought was to mount and IR LED on the female, and
the males photodiodes would be more attracted to the IR LED than
light. Of course than the females would need clear photodiodes to
stop them looking for other females and becoming ummmm.......
for practical reasons the LED would have to be powered by a watch
battery (however it may run on a small solar panel). You can put a
biological twist on this, hey, they can't mate forever....
Next they have to communicate and send out a signal to activate
another photovore, i'm leaning towards a DTMF tone.
