I'm new here but it seems to me that if the box says 3v is the normal
operating voltage it's prolly going to fire at a lower voltage [dimly].

I'm trying to remember. I think it's 1.8 volts required to light a red LED
dimly [corrections welcome] plus the drop across the fled flasher [0.6?] for
2.4 volts???
