I should re-write that as "in parallel to the fellow-player sensor and
opposite diode in series", to remove the ambiguity.
It might also be easier to think of using hall effect sensors (sheilded
on one side) with a magnet on each bot as the sensing system. In the
real world, you couldn't do this because you'd need three magnetic poles
to be able to differentiate the ball from opponents from fellows, but
it's an easier system to think about, because it cuts out all the
irrelevant baggage like frequency decoders that come with using an IR
system.
Actually, maybe just coloured lights, and light sensors with coloured
transplarent plastic over them is the easiest way to think about it.
Yeah, that makes it heaps simpler to talk about.
