Subject: [alt-beam] Personality
Ok, what the heck...
I'm Bob Shannon, 36 years old, and happily married.
I live in Leominster Massachusetts, about an hour west of Boston.
I work for NEC Computer Systems Division, where I work with prototypes
for future laptop computers. Specifically I'm the principal test
engineer for the engineering test department. My speciality is the
power management and smart battery subsystems.
(you can get some of the best little motors out of scrapped laptops!)
There are a number of hobbies that compete for my time. I own and fly
a Piper Cherokee 180. I'm also fairly decent marksman, and occationally
compete in some shooting sports (I do not hunt however).
I've been building small robots scince I was in highschool, but I only
began building BEAM robots shortly before Chiu Fang's most excellent
photovore contest, where I took second place with my Vore-n-more design.
Currently my BEAM designs are outnumbered by CPU based robots. I've got
a Hero 2000, a highly modified Lynxmotion Carpet Rover, a Lynxmotion
Hexapod II, and uncounted scratch built designs.
Other than robots, I've been known to play around with some 'weird
science' and 'fringe' subjects such as scalar waves (don't ask).
Oh yes, I also listen to 'alternative' music old and new, and some
classical as well.
