First, BG Micro is a surplus company, and the yellow catalog is some
what standard for them. Occasionaly, they would get a shipment of lens
assemblys. Attached to the assembly are two very nice motors. They are
ideal for walkers, snakes, or any type of robot or project that requires
a well geared motor. The gears are strong as well. I've yet to strip the
teeth on one. Most lens motors aren't that sturdy, and their strenth is
a big plus. I forgot what company produces the lens assembly, but the
motors are manufactured by Nihon Mini Motor Co. Ltd. The whole lens
assembly was less than $10, which made the motors very cheap!!! All
Electronics bought up a recent shipment, and sold the lens for $25 and
the motors for $17 EACH!!! OUCH! I needed them badly and bought just
under 30 of them. That realy was expensive, but I planned ahead all my
projects and determinged what I needed, and got them. Amazingly, I could
still use more!!! Crazy how useful these things are!!! As for
avaliability? Well, I bought 30 motors, almost all for $17, all at once!
That should go to show how hard to find they are. I think last time BG
Micro had them, they sold out in a day! Last time was also a very long
time ago, last year, maybe late summer or fall, but I could be wrong. I
didn't get there fast enough to get any, and I usualy check my mail at
least two times a day!
