Subject: [alt-beam] Personality

Hello all who did not delete.
OK, I'm gonna jump in here since we all still have our heads despite wasting
bandwidth. My name is James Mullins. I'm 39 years old (ancient by BEAM
standards), and have been happily married to a woman named Liza for 20 years.
I have two teenage children, Daniel and Nicole. I live just outside of
Savannah, Georgia in the middle of the sticks. We have many pets ranging from
the normal to the bizarre. I love the peace and quiet of the country, but
after 8 years here, I'm becoming irritated by the redneck attitude of so many
around me. Ahh well, to be completely content is not the stuff of life. I am a
self employed artist and silkscreener. I build BEAM critters in my spare time
and have plans to do an art show at a local gallery featuring many of my
larger designs. I also work on three comic book ideas that I am developing as
I have time. I paint and sculpt but find less and less time for it. I trained
as a fine artist, got jobs in the commercial arts industry as an illustrator
and layout-pasteup artist mainly in offset printing. I tired of that and about
15 years ago picked up silk-screening and have been printing my original art
on T shirts ever since. I love Sci-fi. and robotics fantasy in particular. I
was the same age as Will Robinson when Lost in Space aired originally and I've
been hooked on robotics ever since. I love Star Trek, and yes, I once wore one
of those stupid home made Starfleet uniforms, went to all the conventions, and
even was a card carrying member of Starfleet and the first officer of a local
club. I still have the figure collection to prove it. God, my kids will never
let me forget it either. Of course I love Star Wars (I sat in awe at the first
screening in '79), Babylon 5, and the Alien sagas. The new series Farscape on
the Sci-fi channel shows some promise as well.
I'm building a web site at Geocities which will have multiple galleries on
BEAM, comic art, and other areas I dabble in. I'll post it when it's finished.
I have several ideas I'd like to market, but will contact Mark Tilden before
announcing any of them. I'm not really into developing kits, but I am
considering a tutorial on how to build a wasp for those that are interested.
I'm currently developing larger plant arrangements, and a couple of aquabots.
I've finished a new BEAM bouquet which has silver daises that spin
independently. Photos will be posted soon.
I'm an agnostic verging on atheism after spending the first half of my life
researching every known belief system. I usually track moderate with an
occasional sidestep to liberal. I'm ambidextrous and dress to the right. Is
this enough, I think so, you guys know more about me then my Mother now.
Jim
