That's the way I'd go. If you use a small amount of 2 part epoxy, it'll
be strong but you can still go back and peel it off, leaving the gears
as they were. Bear in mind that the bonding to the motor axle doesn't
need to be all _that_ strong - just slightly stronger than the torque of
the motor, which is very little at all when compared to the strength of
even small amounts of epoxy.
