Subject: [alt-beam] BEAM, Xoom tip
Greetings List,
I'm just adding a little chunk of advice for you followers of the evil XOOM:
Have you noticed that your pages have a stupid little advertising frame on the
top of them? Well, it's pretty easy to get rid of them.
PLEASE NOTE: This only works if the page does NOT have an htmL extension. It
DOES work with HTM extensions. If you use HTML extensions, just change it to
HTM and continue with these instructions.
Simply replace "*" with the "_XOOM" in the URL
http://members.xoom.com/*/SiteName/index.htm
Example:
http://members.xoom.com/SiteName/index.htm
turns into:
http://members.xoom.com/_XOOM/SiteName/index.htm
What's that you say? There are dozens of sites with links to yours and you
have no way of changing them? Well, rather than demanding that your fellow
webmasters alter these links, how about you add the needed meta tags to your
[old] main page to take your surfers to your new page.
Hope this is clear and helpful. If difficult to understand, tough. Figure it
out.
