An effective SUMO robot controller can also be fabricated from two
one-shots built from 74HC00 configured as a pair of one shots. Each one
shot is set to trigger from an edge sensor and drive the opposite motor
in reverse for a short interval of time.

This could be built with the electronics consuming microamps of current
( except motors ) and could, I suppose, be solar.

That's the charm of SUMO... the electonics may be as simple or advanced
as you like, allowing a wide range of expertise.

There is a new sumo contest we'll be showing at the may Western Canadian
Robot Games called "micro-sumo", which are only a few inches square!
You're welcome to bring some BEAM sumo's to our next event if you
like.. They would compliment our other BEAM events nicely!
