Cute idea, but I'm afriad not. No, a solarcell with red cellophane isn't
going to cut it.

well in bare theory, heat is in the spectrum of infra-red. so bare
with my utter lack of knowledge here,
*photodiodes with *really* dark red filters to absorb heat spectrum
*a solar cell with red cellophane?
seems stupid to me too, but maybe someone could take this further.
