If you have (access to) an oscilloscope, then you might want to
confirm that sustained oscillation at higher light intensities is
actually the cause of your problems. I think it's most probable,
but I can hardly be sure, as I don't even know what SE circuit
you're using. And email leaves much to be desired as a diagnostic
tool anyway...
As to a remedy, replacing the coil is not an option. Mark T's and
Dave's butterflies no doubt work fine, so you might copy their
circuitry. Or you might use some other SE which has minimal feedback
between the voltage trigger and the driver stage. My favourite
would be SunEater_IV; no feedback unless the internal resistance of
the storage cap is really high, switch-on level and on-time
adjustable for best result.
