I understand the benefits of a newsgroup, especially as the mailing list
grows. However, my preference is for the list to continue as a mailing
list. My reasons:

- I'm lazy. I do check newsgroups, but not as often as email (and very
infrequently if I'm out of town). With the activity level of this list,
I prefer to read the messages several times a day, instead of in bulk.
Also, it's easier for me to archive messages that are interesting to me
if they are emails.

- My ISP's newsfeed/news management is not very good (certainly less
reliable than my email feed). I've noticed that messages are often
missing from the newsgroups I follow (you get the occasional reference
to posts that you've never seen). Also, it seems that my ISP doesn't
archive newsgroups for very long -- if I don't check a group for a
couple of days, some of the posts I missed have already been trashed.
I know that archives are available for newsgroups, but that means I
have to look several places for messages (and I already said I was lazy)

Just my $0.02.

Peter
