Well, some benefits are:
1. it won't clog up your e-mail address
2. With over several thousand beamers out there, I feel that the mailing
list is inadequate to serve everyone
3. Beam will finally get a newsgroup of its own instead of having to
filter through all of comp.robotics.misc posts for ones pertaining to
beam

Let me ask you something, what are the drawbacks of having this
newsgroup??
