Subject: [alt-beam] MWT's Spider bot...

I have some ideas on building a bot like Mark Tilden's Spider bot (in
living machines paper). I will use a master/slave microcore config,
with the slaves driving geared stepper motors, one for each leg, that
will turn the legs fwd/back and the master will also drive Nitinol
(NiTi) shape memory alloy actuators like the ones available at the
robot store (~$7.95 US each) to extend(+lift a little)/retract(+lower
a little) the legs. it will lift a leg, extend it, and then fall onto
it. then the leg lifted will come forward, etc etc etc and it will
walk. It will be a little expensive though, and first I actually need
to use a Microcore (for the first time :-) and get used to it, as well
as coming to have at least the slightest clue as to how 4 legged
walkers actually walk. (not to mention saving up enough cash..)
Oh yeah, anyone have some Xtra OTU's I could buy to make my first
walker???(I have no source of gear motors)

if you know about uCores and walkers, would you clue me in a bit???
