Subject: [alt-beam] BEAM warbotics... the winning bot idea
okay, like I have told others, if the robot enters the arena as one
big connected THING it is legal according to the robot wars rules, as
it is a cluster bot. just make a bunch of battery-powered heavy duty
(yet small) photovores, each with a heavy duty motor on its back with
a saw blade hooked up to it. have the PV's released from an R/C
carrier at the beginning, where they would follow an IR emitter on the
enemy robot. just like BLENDO--- the one that got eliminated because
it was like a weapon of mass destruction... too dangerous for the
fans. it was invulnerable, because the WHOLE thing was spinning, and
if these little 'locust' PV bots had a low profile, there would be
nothing for the enemies to swing at, just a spinning saw blade... they
take a swing, BAM the blade takes off an arm/leg/saw/etc. when they
run into an enemy, they will bounce off, but their saws will have
taken a big ol chunk out of the other bot by then. when it flys off,
it will just come back again. think of a swarm of hornets. one
hornet??? just step on it or swat it off. many??? they can kill you.
these things are almost invulnerable, all the enemy can do is like
dull the saw. cut into the electronics... goodbye enemy. cut into a
wheel... no way it can move. persistence doesnt lose. and the best
part??? each little bot would be cheap! the only problem??? flipping
over...
