I might as well toss in my $0.06 (dang inflation)
The now-defunct Robot Wars rules were heavily-biased in favor of ROV-type
machines-
Big ol' radio-controlled crunchers and stompers
My idea of a BEAM scenario that could have whipped aalmost any of them
(highly-illegal as per Robot Wars rules, but it would kick butt) is as
follows:
A large "carrier" bot that releases a swarm of small
walkers/rollers/crawlers/fliers (these,
unfortunately would count as "untethered projectiles - illegal) , then
run away and avoid
being stomped by the opponent. - pretty simple avoidance behavior could
even be BEAM-
based. The attack swarm would get hold of the opponent and zap it with
60-100K Kvolt
"stungun" circuitry (also illegal), then die - a one-shot weapon like a
honeybee sting.
Very few machines could survive this type of attack.
