Who the heck says a BEAM bot would be "crushed" in a few seconds! I bet some
nice stuff could be done! Maybe an array of ultrasonic detectors. If all are
detected, it assumes wall or a mass of robots that would probably be a problem
if it took them on. It could be a wedge shape and work high speed like the
original wedge, but be autonomous. Basicly, it'd roam till it's center sensor
detected an object. Then it'd charge for it! An Nu circuit could do the
"thinking". I'm sure a BEAM Robot wars entrant is possible. No body seems to
have the the money or the balls to build one. It'd be fun to at least design
one! I personaly would get a kick out of it. BEAM deserves a chance to kick @$$
as much as a conventional robot! Remeber, we don't have to worry about the power
10 or 20 CMOS chips consume! Hell! Quadrapod's chip count is well over 20, and
probably over 30!!! I designed this from scratch. It uses BEAM tech and a simple
logic array to acheive 9 possible gaits by listening to tones! I was going to
use a DTMF decoder, but I'm considering making the DTMF decoder out of neurons.
Then it'd TRULY be one of the most complex BEAM bots, capable of understanding
audio tones!!! I'm going to work on the circuits probably over summer. If I
can't make it work, i'll stick with the digital decoder, but i'd like to try.
I'll accept any advice!
