Subject: [alt-beam] Lurch...let's play 20 questions...

Very beautiful. I'd like to see more info as it becomes available. I was
working on a similar design, same physical layout except with 6 motors all with
the same plane of motion. Does having the legs move at tangents to the
circumference allow for straight forward walking or does Lurch move in a Steven
Bolt Photovore type arcing motion? Also with 1 degree of freedom per leg
(assuming from picture) what are you doing with the four extra neurons? Are
they merely delays for timing and leg sequencing? Are the hexcores networked or
do they operate totally independently? I'm assuming the single photodiode per
hexcore controls the travel of the leg thus the legs facing the light will have
a shorter stride, correct?

If your looking for somewhere to buy clear plastic dome's, Electronic Goldmine
has:

Clear Nose Cone for Heat Seeking Missiles cat #G7196 page46 $5.00
It is 4 3/8" diameter and 1/4" thick. Obviously because of the application,
they are totally transparent to IR light.

I've got a couple and they are a little on the heavy side but look awesome.
