Couple of days back there was a report on TV about the rat infestation
in Wash. DC. It seems the city does not have enough crew assigned to
kill rats. Let there be BEAM bots capable of going into rats nests and
killing them. Something like an autonomous, walking (better?) mouse
trap.
May be it can be taught to catch the rat by its tail. Now when the rat
runs, use the energy (by using the motors as generators) to charge the
caps/batteries on the bot. When the energy input falls below a certain
level for long enough (read - tired rat), go ahead & kill the rat. This
way they will earn their keep. Now how to detect & differentiate a rat
from other similar animals? I don't know.
Just an idea from a bored individual.
Dilip
