Subject: [alt-beam] Re: Turbot!
I'll be happy to post full documentation on the Turbot as soon as it's
completed. I'll have info on both the mechanical and electronic aspects. As of
now, only the mechanics have been completed, and I'll be working on the
electronics after I get money in (tuesday I can hopefuly have it, can then order parts).
Ie the electronics is what you want to know about. There curently are 4 ways to
make a Turbot that I know of:
1: A digital controller such as a standard microcontroller
2: A solarbotics style photopopper with 2 tiny, identical modifications
(a small capacitor I think)
3: A Bicore
4: A single CMOS counter chip, some mercury switches, and either a solar engine
or a ery supply. This is how Mark Tilden built his first Turbot, and I'm trying
to make mine this way too, but I have to figure out the circuit first. There is
NO information, so i will need to expiriment with the various orientations of
the Turbot and what diferent type of leg motions do to it. This will take time,
and will probably get boring fast, but i want to keep at it! The thing I realy
don't get is how the counter chip fits in, and of course how many mercury
switches are needed! I hope i can figure this out!
