Heat Shrink tubing is a polymer plasic made in a way that the molecular
strands that make up the tube are streched apart and solidified. when
heat is applied the strands become elastic again and pull themselves
back to their natural form therefor shrinking the entire piece..

So to answer your question, its a plastic that exhibits temperature
affected shape memory..
